【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesaprocedureformakingapreliminaryestimateofthesoundnessofaggregatesforuseinconcreteandotherpurposes.Thevaluesobtainedmaybecomparedwithspecifications,forexampleSpecificationC33,thataredesignedtoindicatethesuitabilityofaggregateproposedforuse.Sincetheprecisionofthistestmethodispoor(Section12),itmaynotbesuitableforoutrightrejectionofaggregateswithoutconfirmationfromothertestsmorecloselyrelatedtothespecificserviceintended.Valuesforthepermitted-losspercentagebythistestmethodareusuallydifferentforfineandcoarseaggregates,andattentioniscalledtothefactthattestresultsbyuseofthetwosaltsdifferconsiderablyandcaremustbeexercisedinfixingproperlimitsinanyspecificationsthatincluderequirementsforthesetests.Thetestisusuallymoreseverewhenmagnesiumsulfateisused;accordingly,limitsforpercentlossallowedwhenmagnesiumsulfateisusedarenormallyhigherthanlimitswhensodiumsulfateisused.Note18212;RefertotheappropriatesectionsinSpecificationC33establishingconditionsforacceptanceofcoarseandfineaggregateswhichfailtomeetrequirementsbasedonthistest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthetestingofaggregatestoestimatetheirsoundnesswhensubjectedtoweatheringactioninconcreteorotherapplications.Thisisaccomplishedbyrepeatedimmersioninsaturatedsolutionsofsodiumormagnesiumsulfatefollowedbyovendryingtopartiallyorcompletelydehydratethesaltprecipitatedinpermeableporespaces.Theinternalexpansiveforce,derivedfromtherehydrationofthesaltuponre-immersion,simulatestheexpansionofwateronfreezing.Thistestmethodfurnishesinformationhelpfulinjudgingthesoundnessofaggregateswhenadequateinformationisnotavailablefromservicerecordsofthematerialexposedtoactualweatheringconditions.1.2Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationpurposesonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressthesafetyproblemsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
